Junior Officials Training


In order to be certified to officiate any OYL games you have to:
  • Register for the training program.Complete 6-hour in-person classroom training
  • Complete on-field training session with OLOA trainer
  • Pass USA Lacrosse Youth Official’s test
  • Be a USA Lacrosse member with “Official” designation

When you register make sure you include both a phone number and an email address that you will check frequently for messages.


Eligibility

Junior Officials must at least be in High School. Adults interested in officiating may also register for and complete this training.

Costs

Base Cost $55

Whistle and Penalty Flag Package $15 (required for all first year officials)

On Field Mentoring

This is required for all youth officials. Please contact your club’s scheduler to arrange your On Field Mentoring Session. Clubs in need of scheduling on field mentoring sessions should email oyl.ref.coordinator@gmail.com

LaxJam at Delta Park on 4/4 will have some slots available for mentoring.


Frequently Asked Questions

Do all officials need to attend the online classes regardless of their level of experience?

Yes. We will have a breakout session for returning officials covering different aspects of officiating.

Do all officials need to be mentored on the field regardless of their level of experience?

Yes.

Do all officials need to purchase their own uniforms, whistles and penalty flags?

Yes. When registering for training officials may purchase a penalty flag and whistle from us for an additional $15 fee. A standard striped and collared official’s shirt is also required.
