Junior Officials Training
Junior Officials Training is generally completed in February and March of the spring lacrosse season and involves the following steps:
- Classroom Training
- On Field Mentoring
- Online Classes via Zoom
- Passing the Officials Rules Exam
If your club interested in hosting a classroom session please email oregonyouthlacrosse.president@gmail.com. Our plan is to host 7 sessions and these are being booked on a first come, first served basis.
Eligibility
Junior Officials must at least be in High School. Adults interested in officiating may also register for and complete this training.
Costs
Base Cost $40
Whistle and Penalty Flag Package $10 (required for all first year officials)
Classroom Training
Classroom Sessions
4 hours of classroom training is required for all officials with less than 2 years of experience. There is a classroom session in Salem on Sunday 3/19 from 1pm - 5pm.
Please ONLY register if you have 2 years of experience, otherwise while you will get access to the online training, we can not guarantee a pathway to certification for you at this time.
On Field Mentoring
This is required for all youth officials. Please contact your clubs scheduler to arrange your On Field Mentoring Session. Clubs in need of scheduling on field mentoring sessions should email Bob weyer <oyl.ref.coordinator@gmail.com>.

Yes.
Do all officials need to attend the classroom training regardless of their level of experience?
Officials who have more than two years of experience may opt out of the classroom training, although it is strongly recommended for all.
Do all officials need to purchase their own uniforms, whistles and penalty flags?
Yes. When registering for training officials may purchase a penalty flag and whistle from us for an additional $10 fee. A standard striped officials shirt is also required.
