Junior Officials Training
In order to be certified to officiate any OYL games you have to:
- Become a USA Lacrosse Member, with the role of “Official.”
- Register for the program.
- Complete classroom training.
- Complete online training.
- Complete on-field training/certification.
- Complete USA Lacrosse Youth Officials Test.
Eligibility
Junior Officials must at least be in High School. Adults interested in officiating may also register for and complete this training.

Whistle and Penalty Flag Package $15 (highly recommended for all first year officials—see below)

Classroom Training
Classroom Sessions
6 hours of classroom training is required for all officials. Please select a classroom session when registering.

On Field Mentoring
This is required for all youth officials. Please contact your club’s scheduler to arrange your On Field Mentoring Session. Clubs in need of scheduling on field mentoring sessions should email oyl.ref.coordinator@gmail.com.
LaxJam at Delta Park on 4/5 will have some slots available for mentoring.

Do all officials need to attend the online classes regardless of their level of experience?

Do all officials need to be mentored on the field regardless of their level of experience?
Yes.
Do all officials need to purchase their own uniforms, whistles and penalty flags?
Yes. When registering for training officials may purchase a penalty flag and whistle from us for an additional $10 fee. A standard striped officials shirt is also required.
