How To Find Your Club

BOUNDARY RULES AND CLUB ELIGIBILITY

1. OYLA’s primary rule is that a players' primary residence address determines which youth program you can play for, which matches OHSLA (our High School association) rules. OYL does not permit a “free agency model” where players can simply switch clubs regardless of their primary residence. There are exceptions for private schools that run their own youth programs.

2. OYLA has flexibility related to private schools that reside in a specific school boundary (ie Caitlin Gabel and Sunset Youth but the family lives in another boundary) if this helps reduce travel time and logistics on the family.

No player may play for a club in a different district from where they live without a written waiver from the OYL Board. Clubs may be sanctioned for including players on their rosters that do not reside in their boundaries.

First and foremost, our league is a town team league and it is important for it to operate in this way to promote the growth of the game across the state. If your local club doesn't meet what you are looking for as a parent, we encourage you to get involved in that club at the board level and donate your time to help realize your vision.

If you have questions about which club your son is eligible to play for please reach out to Board Member David Sanford at oregonyouthlacrosse.president@gmail.com.
